We pushed forward with the house after they let us change a couple minor things about it. Delays started to pile up and problems kept coming. We did a walk through about a week before the closing and the house was not completed as in there were walls not painted, brick not done and countless other problems but we were told it would all be completed before closing. The day of our closing we did our "final walk-thru" and there were still a lot of things needed to be completed and we were very upset with the quality of work that was done on the things that were actually completed.

So we tried to do the math ourselves and kept saying, well if we are approved we must be able to afford the house. Months later we finally hear from the lender and the market has drastically changed since starting the process and the monthly payment we are told is something I would have never signed for. Add in that our income is based off the changing market and we can barely make our current bills because having a commission based income in the mortgage industry is basically making nothing now.

At this time, a lot of the repair work is already done or scheduled and they are proactively following up on the remaining items. I genuinely appreciate their efforts and hope to continue to have the same level of positive experience. 2 days later they told us we have to pay $11k more or they will cancel our contract without any reason, and threat to keep our earnest money.

I was never contacted by any leadership to discuss an amicable solution that didn't result in my family losing almost 15 thousand dollars because of a valid military transfer. As a 18 year Soldier, I wholeheartedly understand sacrifice but my family worked extremely hard to save that money and we can't afford to lose that money. I contacted Gehan on April 19th of 2022 to send out a contractor to break my tub wall and reseal after Warranty work was completed. My tub has a 5 year warranty and this is the third time the jets have failed.
We know we cannot afford this home based on todays number and have attempted to contact the lender and Seller to advise if this, however they have stated that we HAVE to use their approved lender as they issued an approval. We want out of the contract now and want our earnest money back, as no lender would issue a prequalified letter of the information now. The lending process would dictate that our documents are expired as well so there is no reason they should not be requesting new documentation anyways. It should not be still us being told we are approved and should follow through with the home.
There's a lot more problems but I would like someone to get in contact with me. I have been promised many things and yet nothing has been done. We are both veterans and this is completely unacceptable.
Due to the volume of complaints filed against this business, BBB only publishes the details for 50% of the total complaints filed. While this happened between the sixth month warranty check and the eleventh check, we needed to cover the ground to prevent further erosion. So, with the extra sod that was left over from other homes we covered it somewhat. From initial days itself we have faced lot of construction and the appliances issues well. We are already being disturbed by the loud noises Monday - Friday. You can at least have the common decency to inform your workers to respect the neighbors in the community in which they are building and use earbuds or provide them with earbuds.
Other items Gehan told me I have to contact their sub-contractors directly without any support from Gehan. I bought the house from Gehan and I expect to contact only one company. The company I bought the house from for warranty.

I had requested before that Gehan install a door in case the issue should happen again, but they refused. I have documentation from the other complaints about the tub and various other issues that were never resolved. I am requesting Gehan resolve these issues before further escalation. We had been noticing and complaining to Gehan ever since we bought the house that the upstairs was super humid despite us keeping it quite cool in the house.
Spoke with a Gehan Sales Rep for the San Antonio area, was informed unless the roof has a structural issue, any warranty work involving roof materials or workmanship stopped after 1 year. I haven't even listed my complaints about leaking plumbing and electrical issues that has been going on with this house since the now regrettable purchase. We moved in 2 years ago and I've been trying to get someone to get in touch with me. We have never had our 6 month, 9 month and 11 month inspections. We have had multiple things we were told would be fixed before moving in and still they have not.
